Stayed for one night for the races at Catterick Bridge. The room was really, really nice and the bathroom, hidden in the wall, was brilliant. Decor was fresh, welcoming, contemporary. All staff were very friendly, polite, professional and very helpful. Food was great and parking was available, through reception, in the back of the hotel. Great place to stay and part of a very nice, professional, smallish chain, with the helpful, personal touch. Would definitely recommend and will definitely come back. In fact, we may have to as the races were cancelled and we could only enjoy the extremely pleasant and comfortable hotel and the lovely town of Richmond.
The Kings Head Hotel provided a large room for a family gathering, along with a projector and screen, discreet service through several hours, and nice sandwiches. They accommodated vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free requests, some at the last minute. Staff were helpful and friendly.
12 Finkle St, Richmond DL10 4QB, UK – 01748 826217
Went for the first time in years and what a pleasant surprise. It looks more like a hotel than a local pub but manages to combine the two really well with a nice ambience and decor The menu was varied and all at a reasonable cost and the food when it arrived was really excellent with large portions. Service was good with attentive staff Would highly recommend
Went with friends for impromptu lunch. The food was superb and great value for money. Soup and a sandwich turned into our main meal, so substantial was it. Homemade soup, thick filling and warming. The sandwich was filled with fresh cooked warm chicken and bacon. Would highly recommend.

Staying here is like staying at your aunt’s house. Jill made us feel like family right away. Our attic room was small, but very cozy and was one of our favorite rooms on our entire trek. Its dormer window had a great view of the keep of Richmond castle. The other room overlooks the falls on the Swale, but is a bit smaller than our castle view room. The bed was very comfortable, and as Richmond was a two night stay for us, the room was a wonderful refuge for rest. The location couldn’t be better. It’s less than a two minute walk to the castle and town center, but far enough from it so you don’t hear the noise. And its view of the falls is amazing. We enjoyed sitting on the back patio, drinking wine and reading books while watching families enjoy the falls. Breakfast was delicious, and Jill was delightful company. We would definitely stay here again. A note if you have trouble walking or getting around: the road between the town and River View is somewhat steep, and the rooms are at the top of a couple of flights of stairs. But for us…perfection!
This B and B was one of the best I've had the pleasure of staying in. I found Jillian a very friendly and helpful host. The veggie option for breakfast was delicious. But be warned if you don't like stairs, this is not the place for you! ;-)

In a nice quiet area. Very picturesque green. Accomidation was very clean. Pillows on the bed a bit hard for me but that's just preference. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice. Overall a good night's stay
I stayed here during my coast to coat walk. A really nice place with great hosts. The rooms looked like they had been recently decorated and were in immaculate condition. The standard was similar to what you would expect from a 5 Star hotel. The breakfast were also really nice and had generous portions. The staff were very friendly and provided me with useful info on Richmond, including places to eat and things to do. Richmond is a lovely town and this was a great place to unwind and sleep after a long day walking.
If you would like something truly different you might like to have a look at Airbnb. These are mostly B and Bs provided by people on a very informal basis. The may have a spare room, a yurt, a cottage or a barge with space they can receive guests for a night or a month! The website is highly professional. You can really see what you are going to get. Very well worth a look. Airbnb also show 'conventional' B&Bs as well. Enjoy!

Brilliant weekend away. The accommodation is perfect. Really clean and well maintained. Really nice surroundings and the Private hot tub/sauna area is great. We will be back
We have just returned from a few days break at Brompton Lakes near Richmond, a beautiful place in a magnificent setting. We stayed in Iris lodge which we loved! From booking until leaving the staff were wonderful, nothing was too much trouble for them. Iris lodge was spotless. The cleanest place we have ever stayed in. It was in a perfect spot and we even got the evening sunshine. The fabulous glass frontage brought the outside in and the grassed roof is otherworldly and perfection itself. Attention to detail was amazing. Simplicity, yet grandeur at the same time. We came to Brompton with our daughter and her best friends for an 18th birthday treat and bbq with visiting family. We of course brought Seb our border collie too. I can tell you that they were all very impressed including the dog! We loved the organic bath products and the eco friendly ethics which are in place at Brompton Lakes. The beds were sooo comfy and the linens and towels second to none. We had a wonderful welcome pack with beautiful goods in it. We even had great Wi-Fi and Netflix. I enjoyed using the dishwasher too and the chopping boards were pristine, as was everything else. The river was a stone's throw from our lodge and the walkways surrounded by trees and adorable wildlife were everywhere. This is a calm place to de stress and realise just what is important in life, while you sip tea, cocktails or a cool beer on the decked verandah, taking in the serenity of the outside space. The living area is fabulous and we had every single thing we needed and more. No skimping at Brompton. Lakes. We were touched by the complimentary bike hire and tennis and had an enjoyable treat in the sauna and hot tub. There are so many holiday firms out there who are only out to make money, this family run firm isn't like that. I think this beautiful little paradise, a tiny piece of heaven on earth has been built on love with much thought and respect for the people who visit and stay there. I would and will recommend Brompton Lakes to everyone. We loved it and had the most wonderful time. Thank you so much x
